LAwritersgroup.com's 12-Week Writers Group for Screenwriters

This workshop is currently on hiatus.  Sign up for our mailing list to be advised of upcoming workshop dates.

How the Group Works

We're excited to again offer this unique opportunity to take part in our new 12-Week long writers group for screenwriters.  This writers group is for intermediate to advanced screenwriters and is an opportunity for screenwriters to get ongoing peer feedback on their works in progress in a setting that is moderated by an experienced screenwriter who has also published books on screenwriting.

On the first group meeting, you are required to bring in an outline for your screenplay.  We will go over all outlines, and provide feedback and additional direction if needed.  Every ensuing week you are required to bring in 10 pages that we will live read and give feedback on under the guidance of your moderator.  By the end of the 12 weeks, you should have a complete first draft as well as a clear direction for your rewrite.

This group is an intense group that requires a commitment to bring in 10 pages a week.  If you are committed to completing your draft, then this is the group for you.

Moderator

Rob Tobin  is the author of two books, "The Screenwriting Formula" and "How to Write High Structure, High Concept Movies."  Rob is a former development exec and a working screenwriter.  His most recent script "The Camel Wars" is in pre-production with John McTiernan, director of "Die Hard," "Predator" and "Hunt for Red October." Sessions, Meeting Times, and Location

Please see our Schedule Page for dates and times.  This writers group for screenwriters takes place over the course of 12 weeks and meet every Thursday evening from 7:00pm to 10:30pm at a private residence in West Hollywood.

Who can Join, i.e. what type of writers / writing?

This group is for serious intermediate to advanced screenwriters who are committed to finishing a project while making it the best it can possibly be through peer feedback.  This is an amazing opportunity to take your screenplay to the next level.

Applying for the Workshop

If you are interested in applying,  please fill out our online form then send a brief writing sample (no more than 10 pages, please) to Nicole Criona at lawritersgroup@gmail.com.  Any type of writing sample will do, it does not have to be pages from your screenplay.  Please do not send samples directly to or e-mail Mr. Tobin.  All writers must go through our approval process first.

Please submit your material as soon as possible because we qualify writers and then take sign-ups on a first-come first-served basis.
