Body-Doubling / Writing Sprints for Writers
Stop procrastinating and start your morning writing habit by joining us every weekday morning at 8:00 a.m. PST (and more daily write-in times coming soon) to get words on the page. Whether you are working on a novel, a screenplay, or a personal essay, these writing sprints are designed to help you bypass resistance and stay focused.
Why “Body Doubling” Works
Sometimes, a bit more accountability helps when we need to make progress, especially those of us balancing families and full-time jobs. If you have ADHD, AuDHD, or just like the motivation a group provides, this form of silent co-working (what many in the neurodivergent community call “body doubling”) can be particularly helpful.
A psychological shift happens when you are among a group of people, even with the video muted, that keeps you productive and anchored to your desk. This is especially true for neurodivergent individuals.
What to Expect: Our 1-Hour Power Hour Routine
Our Zoom writing group is structured to maximize your deep work time:
- 8:00 a.m. PST: Log into our private Zoom room. More daily times coming soon!
- The Check-In: We spend 5 minutes briefly sharing what we intend to write.
- We provide an optional writing prompt for those who are stuck or want to generate something new.
- The Sprint: We spend 50 minutes of deep writing with audio and video muted.
- The Wrap-Up: Five minutes before the top of the hour, we review our accomplishments and quickly brainstorm any blocks.
Note: Most participants keep their video off, so feel free to join in your pajamas!
