When we find good writing instruction, we share it!

Check out these 2009 videos of Ira Glass talking about the building blocks of storytelling. Though Glass speaks about creating beautiful stories for radio and broadcasting, much like he does with his NPR series This American Life,  we believe his points hold true for the stories we write.

Consider this gem from Glass:

“The trick of [storytelling] is having the perseverance, that if you’ve you got an interesting anecdote [the action], you can also end up with an interesting moment of reflection [the why] that will support it, and the two together, interwoven…will make something larger than the sum of its part.”

Check out all these videos and apply his teachings to your own work.
