:: Glendale / Glassell Park Writers Workshop ::
Our
Glendale / Glassell Park area writers group is our longest running
group, the first group we started and is run by our co-founder, Sanora
Bartels. LAwritersgroup.com's writing groups are a unique
combination of writers groups, creative writing workshops, and writing
critique groups. We are very excited to have this as a continuing
and popular creative writing workshop.
Writers of all skill levels and genres come to our groups for the
constructive, supportive critique on their current writing projects in
a safe environment from a qualified moderator and from fellow group
members. Our guided critique process has firm rules established
by years of experience that helps keep the critique both constructive
and supportive. Critique should help elevate your writing and get
you excited about the possibilities, not leave you feeling dejected and
discouraged.
Our groups can reignite your passion for writing, let you connect with
other writers in your area, help you create new stories through
improvisational creative writing exercises designed to open up your
creativity and elevate your writing. You will generate new ideas
every week through the writing prompts that also encourage you to
experiment with different voices and genres.
 Sanora has been running writers groups for
nearly 9 years and in 2006 graduated with a Master of Professional
Writing degree from University of Southern California. She has
studied with various poetry mentors, including Cathy Colman (Borrowed Dress), Ron Koertge (Making Love to Roget’s Wife), and Holly Prado (from one to the next). At USC, she studied screenplay writing with Syd
Field (Screenplay) and has since completed a full-length screenplay titled
“Straying Home” which made it to the Semi Finals of NexTv’s 2010
Writing and Pitch Competition. Her poetry has been published in
Wordwrights!
magazine and
New Millennium Writings. Her full-length poetry manuscript is titled
The Order of Things. Sanora is a teacher of Vedic Meditation and has written
several pieces on Vedic philosophy and has had over 20 articles
published. You can find her meditation schedule on

 Our
groups are held in private residences, and this group takes place in
the northern Glassell Park area, above the 2 freeway, near the
intersection of York Blvd and Verdugo Blvd. There is pleny of
parking here, and is an easy and quick freeway drive from Pasadena,
Downtown LA, and Hollywood.
